President and CEO
Francis has obtained a certificate in accounting and is currently a member of CGA Ontario. He has 15 years of experience in accounting, finance, tax, and venture capital. His career started with Mr. Lube Canada, where he was an Accounting Analyst, Accounting Supervisor, and Assistant Controller. He worked directly with independent franchise operators, assisting them with cash flow, risk management, strategy implementation, profitability improvement, and analysis of financial results. After leaving Mr. Lube, Francis worked as a consultant in many companies, including Thrifty Car Rental, Dylex, Alliance Communications and International Accountant. In 1997 Francis Best Financial Corp. was incorporated. Many of the clients were small businesses; contracts came about from personal relationships. The major clients include – The Film Works Ltd., and Paragon Entertainment Corp. During this time, Francis was also retained by Pricewaterhouse as a Distribution Controller for Paragon. In 2001, Govan was started, and all of the contracts were placed under this company. Govan was engaged by Root Capital and Valhalla Investments Ltd., to work on venture capital projects. This engagement involved Govan becoming affiliated with Apex Ltd., Icefloe Technologies, OGCX, and Isomer Ltd. Francis is currently the president of Govan.
Ray C. McMillan
Mortgage Consultant
Ray graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Economics. He completed the Life Underwriters Association Course (LUAC) Levels 1 and 2. Then he moved on and completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course. After that, Ray worked in Management with several major retailers including Grand&Toy and Eaton’s Canada. He then worked as a financial consultant with the Standard Life Assurance Company, where he marketed life insurance, investment and annuity products. He became a Financial Advisor with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, where he managed a portfolio of 250 clients with $24,000,000.00 assets while also managing and assessing their credit and borrowing needs. Currently Ray is an independent mortgage consultant as part of the Govan team. We have assisted clients in the arrangement of more then $65 million in residential mortgages while counselling them through the entire purchase process.
Selwyn McSween
Lawyer
Selwyn practices business law, real estate law, wills, and estate law. He is available for private consulting, public workshops and seminars. He has worked with various government agencies and tribunals in mediations, conciliations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
Davis Gravelsins
VP Marketing
Davis has over 10 years experience as a start-up marketer, and another 10 as an advertising executive for North America's leading ad agencies, corporations, and government departments. He is a qualitative marketer with special strengths in branding. Davis has worked with clients including Aramark, IBM, Agfa Bayer and many others.
Sabrina Ramnath
Business Analyst
Being a 2001 University of Ottawa graduate, Sabrina obtained a combined degree in social sciences and business. This varied background has equipped Sabrina with the tools and knowledge to specialize in certain aspects of small business. Sabrina works exclusively on start up companies, and sees them through the tough and trying beginning years of business.
Kerina Ramnath
Office Manager
Being a 2003 University of Ottawa graduate, Kerina obtained a bachelor of commerce with honors in marketing and a minor in accounting. Kerina currently, does all the bookkeeping for small companies and the marketing for Govan, while also undertaking all of the administrative duties.
Romayne Eastmond
Network and Web Administrator
Being a 2005 graduate of Devry Institute of Technology, Romayne obtained a bachelor of technology with a focus on Computer Information Systems. Romayne is responsible for all network and web administrative responsibilities.
